Waving the Constitution

It has been an extremely busy few weeks, but I did manage to put up a couple more blog posts recently, relative to earlier weeks. But I'll probably be easing off a bit for the next week or so as I have to help complete a big writing project for the Party. (Writing can be really tiring! ;))

But before I go into a mini-hiatus, I thought I'd highlight again, this time, our Prime Minister's reiteration that Malaysia is indeed an Islamic State.

I assume Pak Lah meant to say in English that "“Malaysia is an Islamic state which is administered based on the principles of Islam and at the same time adheres to the principles of parliamentary democracy guided by the highest law of the land - the Federal Constitution. The principles of Islam mentioned here is the Islam Hadhari philosophy which has been introduced by him."

The billion ringgit question then is, in the event of contradiction between Islam Hadhari as defined by the Prime Minister, and the Federal Constitution, which one comes first? If it is the former, then by definition, we are a theocratic state. If it is the latter, why is it that we are seeing clear cut evidence to the contrary? It is especially obvious when the Prime Minister states that we are "not a secular state", contrary to the spirit and objectives of the Federal Constitution. Either that, or he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Now, given that the MCA Youth leaders led by Datuk Liow Tiong Lai who had tried to defend Najib's initial proclamation that Malaysia is an Islamic State, and who so patrioticly waved the Federal Constitution during the MCA Youth Assembly, the question is will he lead the MCA leaders both in the cabinet as well as the Parliament to wave the Federal Constitution in Parliament?
The apex of Liow’s speech was in the closing when he said that it was never MCA Youth’s culture to brandish the keris.

“If we want to brandish something, why not let us wave the Federal Constitution?” he said as all of the Youth wing committee members on the stage rose in unison with copies of the constitution in their hands to loud applause from the floor.
Or was the waving of the constitution just for MCA's internal consumption and a photo taking publicity opportunity, or will he act as big as he talks?

How Things Work In Real Life

Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.

After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.

Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana. Why not? Because as far as they know that's the way it's always been done around here.

And that, my friends, is how a company policy begins.

I have a question about semantics.

Is there a difference between "negara Islam" and "negara yang berugama Islam"?

Which is which now? Malaysia is neither a secular nor islamic country and now it is declared as islamic country...all from the words of a same person.

I'd rather if MCA brandished one of the Chinese Kung Fu swords instead.

Non-Muslims in this country need to accept one irrefutable fact now - that the powers in charge by and large want an Islamic state - it is not clear exactly how it is defined but its clear, the label whatever definition, comes first and must be Islamic. It is also irrelevant to them what history and the constitution says in the context of their goal, they also must fit in to what they want, which is unclear intellectually and long term consequentially.

As far as Islamic state issue is concern is about which unburden mind and unbridled power determines it, not the heavy burden of awareness and intellectual prowress. The Constitution? Its whatever they want it to be. History? Choose what they want to see and hear. Truth? Smart People are laughing at such a question at our expense..

When the mild-mannered Abdullah Badawi took over as prime minister from the fire-breathing Mahathir Mohamad in 2003, there were hopes of change for the better. Mr Badawi preached a moderate, “civilisational” Islam and pledged to crack down on corruption.

Four years on, corruption, facilitated by the pro-Malay policies, is unchecked. The state continues to use draconian internal-security laws, dating back to the colonial era, to silence and threaten critics. UMNO continues to portray itself to Malays as the defender of their privileges yet tries to convince everyone else that it is the guarantor of racial harmony. One commentator this week gently described this as a “paradox”. Hypocrisy would be a better word.

Hi Tony, below are some suggestions for you to topple Barisan Nasional!! Hope they are useful.

(BDB)

Good luck !! We will help you to sack the hypocrite Pak Lah!!

A message brought to you by progressive Malaysians

If you are a citizen with some wisdom, you should not vote Barisan Nasional in the coming general election.

Say no to UMNO, say no to MCA, say no to MIC, say no to Gerakan. They are all hypocrites who only look after their own profits using the country's resources. Wake up!!!

Vote Opposition for a better future!! The country now badly needs a stronger opposition to be the check and balance for the TOTALLY CORRUPTED BN GOVERNMENT!!

GOD BLESS!

But seriously, what is there to celebrate the Merdeka?

I turned off the TV once I see such an incompetent PM insulting our Tunku Abdul Rahman by re-enacting his Merdeka shouts.

And not to mention that particular gobloke who wasn't even elected by the public (no, not even the party members) raising the flag.

Irks me a lot!!

I was really upset upon seeing the UMNO, BN and MCA flags amidst the Malaysian flags. As you drive into the toll booths, you are confronted with the giant pictures of BN leaders. BN has made itself synonymous with nationalism. It is revolting. Henceforth, to be patriotic, to love the nation, is to love BN. They have taken everything from us even our national symbols. Who is to blame? We the voters. This is what we deserve when we give BN a 90% seat majority. BN is Malaysia, Malaysia is BN. By making their parties synonymous with the national Merdeka celebrations, BN has desegrated our national symbols. Isn’t there a law against this?

AAB is paying lip service again to the need for unity, and to be fair to all races. He said that he wanted to be a PM for all races four years ago. But soon after, he extended NEP until 2020, as though he did not realise that NEP has never been a policy fair to the non-Malays.

When he was told that the government had achieved the target set for Malays in owning 30% of corporate equity for ending NEP, he said that EPU would reveal its methodology and data to refute (or confirm) the results revealed by ASLI. That was more than 9 months ago, and he has since frozen the topic. Has he been convinced that ASLI's report was right, but he had not the political will to end NEP? Quite obviously whatever the objectives the NEP was set out to do, its implementation was unfair to the non-Malays. Non-Malays have been smarting the sufferings brought by NEP and are awaiting the government to honour UMNO's promise to end NEP when the specified target of the 30% equity capital accrued to Malays has been achieved.

AAB knew that non-Malays could not throw out BN in the next election, and that he could bully non-Malays at will by proclaiming that NEP, the unfair policy, would be extended to 2020. He even did not have the courtesy to first examining the achievements realised so far, nor indicate the actual steps towards achieving the 30% target. For example, the government could just use Petronas funds to buy up the equity capitals up to 30% to be distributed to poor Malays right now, rather than using it to bail out his cronies.

NEP had lived twice its expected lifetime, and the actions that have nothing to do with improving the share ownership of Malays, such as making non-Malays pay more so that Malays get a discount in buying non-low cost houses is done in the name of NEP. (If the argument is that the savings for Malays would allow them to own corporate share, then the government should have not allowed Malay tycoons to park their fabulous wealth outside Malaysia.)

AAB wanted to be a PM for all races four years ago, but his records showed that he could only support the policy direction of racists in his party, the persons like MB of Johor and Malacca, Kerismuddin, and his SIL. So, though he made reasonable sound bites during his Merdeka speech, he would be doing the same things that he did in the pasrt four years.

Based on his records, one can conclude that either he was lying to the world, and he did not understand the meaning of his own speeches. In either case, he represented UMNO, and UMNO cannot be trusted to lead the country in the way AAB said he hoped the country would proceed in the next fifty years. If AAB is neither a lier, nor a person unable to understand his own speeches, then he is a eunuch in his own party, UMNO.

To all bloggers, besides vending our anger here, do not despair, start doing our part now. Together we can pull our beloved land out of this shit hole. All good citizens of this country, whether MAlay, Chinese or Indian, are suffering now, if we do not do anything, our children and chilren's children will suffer even more. Corruption, crime rate is rampant, the judiciary , education is going down. There is no future for our future generation if the BigNajis government is allowed to carry on like this. We need not suffer any more from all the abuse, misdeed of those crooked Umnoputra bandits who steal and rob the Rakyat!

Start to educate your friends, your colleagues, your neighbours, your relatives and every one around you about what is happenning to our beloved country and how dire the situation is.
Especially to our Malay compatriots, start to educate all your folks back in the kampongs, don't let those scumbag parasite politicians, with their fake religiousity and meadieval, vulgar racialism hoodwink them with election gimmicks. The future of Malaysia has more to offer than RM200 or a few paved roads during election time.

It is the responsibility of us the Rakyat, we owe it to our future generation. We can change this peacefully through the ballot box in the coming election.

So, every body, start doing your parts now.

We must have a plan to deny BN the 2/3 majority in the coming GE. It will be great if we can achieve better than that. If we want a truly Malaysian Malaysia, there is a need to start a new political party which is race blind.

It may be too late for this coming GE but this party can be formed after denying BN the 2/3. We definitely need new leaders that can lead all Malaysians. The present political parties are too racial base. The goal is to kick BN out in the next GE. The challenge is to find these leaders. WE need to save this country from the corrupt and liars.

The Barisan Nasional government frequently makes pronouncements that the economy is sound, with GDP growth rates of 5% and above.

However the following statistics of per capita income do not give a flattering picture of Malaysia:

PER CAPITA INCOME OF SELECTED ASIAN COUNTRIES

1967/ 2005

Malaysia US290/ 5,042

Singapore 600/ 26,836

Hong Kong 620/ 25,493

Taiwan 250/ 15,203

S. Korea 160/ 16,308

In 1957, Malaysia had the second biggest per capita income after Japan, but now we are at the tail end among the front-rank developed nations in Asia.

In 2005, Malaysia’s per capita income increased by only 17 times from 1967, as compared to South Korea which increased 100 times. Taiwan 60 times, Singapore 45 times and Hongkong 40 times.

Malaysia is far richer in natural resources than the other countries. Singapore for example has no rubber, oil, forests, palm oil, etc.

The difference is in the development and utilisation of human resources. Malaysia has failed to make full use of the human resources in the country.

The statistics indicate that Malaysia was competitive with the other countries up to 1967. Thereafter, the Asian tigers like HK, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan leapt forward to lofty heights.

In 1966, the bumiputra policy was formally announced as a policy and in 1971, the National Economic Policy was launched. The various regulations and measures from these two policies slowed down economic growth considerably. Entrepreneurs, businessmen, traders and small and medium industries were put off by these policies.

The reaction of international countries was negative, and many investors shied away from Malaysia. Foreign direct investments declined considerably to US$3.9 billion in 2006, whereas Asean countries had FDIs of US$10 billion for Vietnam, US$7.9 billion for Thailand, US$30 billion for Singapore. China had US$70 billion FDIs in that year.

The above proves that Basisan Nasional is a big failure!!

Do you need another reason to vote out the Barisan Nasional government?
