BN Lost The Plot

(Update: This post was written before Teresa Kok, DAP National Organising Secretary, MP for Seputeh, ADUN for Kinrara as well as Senior State Exco for Selangor was arrested. Bloody hell)

The DAP is completely shocked by the total abuse of power by the Barisan Nasional Government in arresting Tan Hoon Cheng, a reporter with Sin Chew Daily who reported the statement by UMNO Bukit Bendera division chief, Datuk Ahmad Ismail who called the local Chinese as “penumpang” in Malaysia.

The Barisan Nasional government has completely lost the plot for she only reported the factual truth that is what Datuk Ahmad Ismail said, nothing more and nothing less. But arresting Tan, the Government only seeks to punish those who are truthful, instead of those who has committed the crime of inciting racial hatred.

This sinister development which follows closely after the arrest of popular blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin is a clear cut attempt to silence both the mainstream and the online media from reporting what is fair and true, which is against the vested interest of Barisan Nasional.

With the latest development, we want to reach out across the political divide to our political opponents in MCA, Gerakan and MIC, parties who have expressed dissatisfaction with the UMNO leaders who have expressed statements which incites racial sentiments.

Will MCA, Gerakan and MIC demonstrate to the people that after the punishment they received in the hands of the rakyat in the last general elections, they have understood the sentiments of the people and the need for drastic reforms.

A government which will go to the extent of abusing its powers detaining a simple reporter has lost all moral authority to rule the nation.

There can be no better time now to stand up for the truth, justice and integrity, and take immediate actions to demonstrate disgust with the actions of the police and the Government.

For the general public out there, please visit, call, sms and write to the MCA, Gerakan and MIC MPs and ADUNs to speak up for the innocent and do what is right for this country of ours which we love so much! Or they shall be damned forever politically for supporting a corrupt and oppressive Barisan Nasional government.

It is unfortunate that they detained blogger, journalist and opposition politician under ISA. However, it is important that we must stay calm and never let emotion drive our action.

If we observe carefully, the arrest was aim at certain group of people. It is possible that it is to provoke public outcry so that they have valid reasons to declare the state of Emergency and rule with martial law and abandoning Constitution.

In all likelihood, it is possible that certain quarters will manipulate this event for their political gains, by creating racial riots or inciting racial hatred. Hence, we must stay calm. If we let emotion drive our action, we will fall into their game plan.

This is dirty trick deployed by politicians with self-interest in their last bid to retain their power. They are doing it under the name of National Interest and Security. We must stay alert as the worse are yet to come.

I didnt see this coming, not in my wildest dream did I see this one coming. Ahmad Ismail is free but Tan Hoon Cheng being arrested? That's really out of logic!
Malaysia Police better set their priority right and if this is UMNO last effort to stop Anwar from becoming PM. UMNO is really making a big mistake!
I was 50-50 to support Anwar of forming the government through the undemocratic way but now I'm 100% sure I want to see
ANWAR IBRAHIM BECOME OUR PRIME MINISTER IN THE SHORTEST TIME POSSIBLE, ANY MEANT POSSIBLE!!! ARMY COME COME COME! AGONG COME COME COME!

My first reaction: No class! Desperate measures taken during desperate times.

Malaysians unite, be calm, show our maturity. Sooner or later, by not falling into their trap of inciting unrests, these arrests will expose the lack of judgment in the current administration

Why Tan Hoon Cheng? Why Teresa Kok? Why NOT Ahmad Ismail? Because they are Chinese? Rejim BN tergugat!!!!!

YB Tony Pua, this is the first time you appeared angry. Malaysia is the laughing stock in Europe. I lost my face. God helps Malaysia. Please.

Shows the desperation of UMNO - don't fall into their trap (if we over-react, they may use the Emergency). Let's hope that we do not go down the Zimbabwe or Myanmar route...
Pls stay calm (even though we are all ANGRY over the ISA detentions).

why ahmad not been arrested?? as a malay, i really hate this kind of irrelogically ....ahmad made that statement, he should be detained under ISA ..i hate this kind of people who make the chaos but still free and other people get the impact ...people are educated, BN cant treat us like 40 years ago...we already knew this kind of plot...stupid BN ...

i agree with edi-sen. I'm not sure if it's ethical to takeover the government thru crossover. I'm also only 50-50 on this. but, right now, i'd say ANWAR FOR PM AT ANY COST!

Something is very very wrong. I tell you. Teresa Kok and Tan arrest DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!

Upstairs somewhere they have lost it!!! This not only don't serve any purpose but it will actually strengthen the agitators against the Badawi!!!

At first I thought, this is some elaborate plot to create artificial threat but its even more stupid because it cannot be controlled!!!

Something is very very wrong. Why did the PM mention RPK but not Teresa Kok and Tan in his initial annoucement? Why so little details on Kok and Tan? How can no one notice how weak the case is against them? Does no one see putting the the other two case and against the papers together just make things worst for even the case against RPK?

There is so many questions, so little answer. Something is very very wrong!!

I can't help but feel the govt is just out of control. Badawi is just not in charge anymore. He is just pretending that he is!!!

I may have misgivings on "party hopping" but after this ISA injustice, i am 100% for it. The BN, No - more like UMNO is desperately clinging for straws to stay alive & relevant, and is trying to play racial politics to justify ISA & Emergency Rule.

Please, Pakatan Rakyat, please execute your new gov't soon, before the country rots further under UMNO

in retrospect, the detention of rpk, teresa kok and tan hoon cheng is a good thing... a very good thing. now no one needs to lift a finger to banish bn and discredit umno! they did it all by themselves - finally doing something right (although doing things the hard way)

Dear Tony,

I am very angry too. This has already melampaui batasan. Kurang ajar betul. All Malaysians are against what is clearly so wrong, unjust, unjustifiable, mad, cowardly, craven, etc. decision to detain good people under ISA. Abolish the ISA.

This is indeed a dark moment in the annals of democracy in our country. I used to have reservations when others called for the repeal of the ISA, thinking the gov't need the upper-hand when dealing with issues of national security. How wrong I was! How gullible! All I see is the blatant abuse of the law to stifle political dissent.

Yes, there are sinister motives behind the arrests but we will not rise to the bait.

I wish all the detainees well.

Did someone notice this from Bernama:

1) Zaid Ibrahim says Muhiyiddin should quit or be fired.
2) Syed Hamid supports Dr. M. How can Syed Hamid arrest RPK, Kok, Tan and then support the biggest pain to govt at the same time?

All this just sounds like the PM has lost control of his cabinet...

Dear all,

It is vey obvious to me that Badawi has lost control of his own govt. The facts are that many people within UMNO were against any punishment for Ahmad Ismail. It is not impossible that certain UMNO warlords have bargained with Badawi to take ISA action for their (warlords) support in the coming UMNO election. A particular individual stands out for his extremist views in word and deed and he is Khir Toyo. Please note that the issue implicating Teresa Kok was started by Khir Toyo. And now Teresa Kok is detained for defending herself? This man is a danger to Malaysians.

I myself am extremely angry at such evil people but I appeal to everyone to stay calm. UMNO extremists are waiting for a reaction in order to raise the ante and invoke national emergency.

Please stay calm.

like Haris said, be very very careful what you ask for from MCA. Reminded us of Najib-Lee Kim Sai episode. MCA cannot be trusted to assist! If the party truly cares and abhors the use of ISA, then it should
Haris also caution us not to overreact. keep cool and dont give them the chance of the day to exploit the situation. Meantime, the legal eagles are preparing to go to the courts. See, we need a fair and independent judiciary! Have you all readers bother to sign the petition which is being initiated by Haris. Go to RPK's blog or Haris's blog (www.harismibrahim.wordpress.com) and sign up. Ask your friends too. RPK is looking for 50,000 signatures. Pathetically, it is below 25,000 as of last nite. For once, get your butt out from your chair and get your friends to sign instead of just ranting and raving.

Pakatan Rakyat MPs should write a petition to the DYMM SP Agong and inform His Highness about Bodohwee's abuse of power.

The Courage to Build a New Malaysia.
----------------------------------

The year is 2008. This is the year most Malaysians finally woke up from a deep slumber. Most Malaysians were just too busy earning their living and building up their lives to take notice that times have changed and the idealism spouted by our founding Fathers have still not been accomplished for this country even today.

It was not so long ago in 1957 and then for our fellow East Malaysians in 1963 when the ideals and dreams preached by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (Bapa Kemerdekaan and Bapa Malaysia) for Malaysia were first announced and was greeted with joy in the hearts and minds of all Malaysians. The late Tunku Abdul Rahman had a dream and ideals, just like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and many others including the prophets over the history of mankind.

Many a times such dreams were hijacked and led astray under the guise of nationalistic, racist and religious idealism by so called politicians and self declared and appointed righteous and religious persons (Little Napoleons). Individuals who have risen to continue some of such idealisms are gagged, isolated, bankcrupted, blasphemied, rehabilitated or worst jailed, for it is deemed not in consonance with the dreams and idealism of the elected parties agendas.

Laws are legislated and passed at whim in Parliament to change the idealism of the Supreme Law of the Land (The Malaysian Constitution) and to cloak such party and individual agendas. It is true, Malaysia, conforms to the democratic process as practiced by most western countries in elections (even though tainted but unproven). But once given the trust to be elected as a leader or representative of the people, party and individual idealism overtook national idealism, and The Jeykll and Hyde personality emerged to be repeated over and over again at each and every election and by-election.

Malaysians have being led astray for so long, that what is right is blurred, what is wrong is tolerated, what is evil is condoned, what is fair is pouted as unfair, what is immoral becomes moral and corruption and close one eye need to become a part of our accepted daily lives. Jealousy, hatred, greed, racism, plundering and satanism starts to breed in Malaysian minds, and brothers, friends and fellow Malaysians were looked upon as enemies or as inferior human beings. Once a while, such nets were cast ashore to include anything to do with other countries or other races which do not belong to one's own race or religious beliefs.

The minds and souls of Malaysians are so polluted and poisoned for so many years that it seems that Malaysia is the only all correct country and we should rule the world by our way. Examples of countries which follows Malaysia or is it we following them are, such as North Korea, Zimbabwe and Israel. What justifications can you tell your own generations or future Malaysian generations that what you are doing to fellow mankind and more so to your own fellow Malaysians that it is righteous and correct, when, it is at the expense and sufferings of your own human kind and fellow Malaysians?

Can you say to them I did it to follow the orders and teachings of God or party political agendas? Who gave you such inspirations and idealism? Do not absolve your own wicked mind and greed nor take a ride on someone else wicked mind and greed. Do not pick and choose in the Books of God nor the man-made laws to justify or suit your own twisted and idealistic minds. You can fool others due to their ignorance or emotions at some time but you can't fool forever a man's conscience nor your own children or hopefully one day your own when such enlightenment comes to you.

The courage to change things which are not right in Malaysia nor achieve the ideals of the Founding Fathers is not impossible. Most Malaysians have woken up to the fact that the future is going to be determined by it's own citizens thru their own conscience guided by their own religious beliefs to live a harmonious and productive life of correctness and not the type of political, racial or religious correctness as preached.

Parties and their own agendas do not take priority over the Founding Fathers ideals and hopes of all Malaysians. Religion and principles are as a guide to your own conscience to make sure whoever is the leader do not lead Malaysians nor society astray.

For in the end, what is just and right should surely overule anything else for any leader or their party agendas.

Does your Representative of the People (Wakil Rakyat) or You! have the courage?

tony,

do DAP and the other opposition party have any idea on what to do, if they start to use ISA on every single opposition leader?

Anonymous said...

to mca, mic, gerakan supporters.

Tony called for mca and gerakan to speak up, but in my view these politicians leading the parties have their ball squeezed. their vested interest, their position in government, or you wont know, their proof of corrupt acts in the hands of the umno. anyone in their right mind would have done something, unless too much personal interests at stack. but then, the issue is supporters of the parties. had your ball squeezed as well? if not why are you voting them?

This year Mid-autumn festival will be remembered...

The delicious Mooncakes has had it role in toppling the Mongolian regime of the Yuen Dynasty.

Now, the rakyat wanted to see the toppling of the hopeless BN government.

BN didn't lose the plot. This was a plot to raise racial tension. BN was 'testing water' prior to pushing to the limit. Guess they miscalculated & thought the rakyat are all 'dungu' like they are. As long rakyat hold & remain calm, BN will then definitely lose the plot. I expect their last dirty draw would be sending some kamikazes (maybe some poor indonesian they promise lots of $$$) out to the street. Rakyat must be on full alert. BN is known for sabotage, even the country if they have to. This is one possible scenario by BN.
