Was at the candlelight vigil against ISA as well as to commemorate the first anniversary of BERSIH gathering. the story you can read from Malaysiakini.
I was arrested while seeking out Ronnie Liu and the senior police officers in charge to make sure that everyone is ok.
the CPO Selangor issued the call to arrest me, and 2 guys came over to grab one arm each and pushed me towards the Black Maria.
I stated that I will walk, don't be rough but they tore my shirt instead. I repeated my call and 3 other police officers came at me, one with the knees into my belly while another attempted to kick my shin.
They then chucked me against the back of the Black Maria truck and shoved me up despite me stating that I can climb myself.
Apparently after waiting some 2 hours plus, it appears that they are going to keep us for the night here, and charge us tomorrow.
Weng San was also assaulted and had major bruises and some bleeding on the face. He saw the police who assaulted him here at the station, and Ronnie confronted him for his name. he appeared shaken by the demand and he refused to give his name and gave insted some very rude retorts.
Will update if I have sufficient battery. We are in good spirits and the lawyers have just been allowed in. So don't worry guys and gals :-)
Ah, and yes, its my first time. Not at all glamourous. :-)

YB,
I hope you'll be alright. I was there, and I couldn't believe that they charged in without warning. I saw a young couple being dragged away. The wife was holding on to the husband being dragged away. I hope they are okay too.
This incident has just fanned the flame in me even more than before. And I will continue to support fights against injustice in this country. And as we couldn't finish singing our national anthem...

My respect goes out to you! Hope you'll be released soon.
what's wrong with the police nowadays?
Once, my neighbor was robbed and the police arrived more than an hour after they had made the call.
And now, citizens are having a peaceful vigil and they did not wait a minute more to arrest them?
The police are good in bulling the innocent person. If ask the police to solve crimes or catch criminals their response will be always slow. Anyway YB Tony i will stand by you and will tell the people this Malaysia is going to be a police state. I hope in this coming future there are greater change for the Malaysia police force to be more humane when dealing with a peaceful gathering weather organize by government or the opposition parties. Malaysia need more change to be better if not it will be going backward.
world gone crazy, or should i put it as Malaysia gone crazy
I though u remember to bring ur hp charger with u everywhere after Teresa Kok being arrested accident?!
Well, as opposition politician, I think have to well prepared to face this.
U re the HERO now!!!
Must be in good spirit always...^ ^
Take care!!!Pround of Tony Pua! :D
Glad to hear that you're ok, all joking aside. Keep well.
Tony Pua,
Congrats for your arrest. I bet you guys are usually proud to be arrested, as that gives you more credibility to bash the majority race and those within the corridors of power.
As far as I am aware, your handphone do get confiscated if you are remanded. Apparently that has change. I guess that is inefficiency on the police's part.
You should not worry. You were brought in by an influential individual, I bet he will ensure you reach home safe and sound.
Regards,
ATUKBARU
Am proud that you are my representative in parliament! The police have disgraced themselves again and again...
This is unacceptable - what they have done will only solidify our support for you and your colleagues.
Makkal Sakti!
We are all with you bro!
My regards to you & the other people detained there.
You will be out in no time & this #@^%($@(^! people, will feel the power of PR & Makkal Sakthi behind them.
See you soon ;-)
Take good care of yourself, don't give them any reason to hurt you physically.
How about the others? Hopefully DAP will offer legal assistance for those who went with the spirit of freedom.
Don't worry, the time will come when we will teach those irresponsible people who live taxpayers money and misbehaved.
Keep the fight. There are too many people like the police who think they will be in that position forever. We will get even one day. I am very angry,..Sh,,!!!!F#@$
Dude. I'm so sorry this happened to you. This sucks. After RPK's release I thought they'd let up on things but apparently not! Good luck man.
I was there too. As we sang the final note of Negara Ku the Orcs charged. Heard hideous sounds but didn't look back! Later I heard you got hauled in and were manhandled. That's totally preposterous. They MUST know you're an MP - and even if you weren't, there was absolutely no cause to arrest anyone, except to appease an infuriated & humiliated home minister who needs to be extra garang to win the Umno deputy president election.
I'm very relieved to read your firsthand account from inside the lockup - another marvel of digital tech, you must own an iPhone :-)
Bless you, Tony Pua. Everything Umno/BN does BACKFIRES!
Tony, hang in there.....we are all behind you
The cops again get their priorities wrong. Seriously, IPCMC is the way to go.
I wonder now if we can turn the tables on them using the National Anthem Act.
I feel so SICK that the rakyat and representatives of the people can be arrested by the police JUST FOR EXERCISING THEIR RIGHTS!
The police did not intervene in Ipoh and look how well it ended.
God I feel SICK!
This is proof that the danger is not the politics of the police, its their idiocy. Tony Pua's ceramah video has been watched up 115,000 people.
If they hurt Tony, a very big group of people is going to turn up and then there will be more hurt going around...
tony,
Hope you are ok.. you will have our support all the way..

Those F***ing B******. Is the vigil more violent than what had happened at Seremban umno meeting? Now that the IGP is back on his feet again, he can resume to his evil ways again?? And orders CPO and other top brass to be cruel to anyone that he pleases?!! God has given him a warning with his heart attack and has given him another chance with the successful heart surgery. Repent please! I know you are very strong my friend. Please hang in there. Will pray for your safety.

I am sorry that you were attacked, arrested and also beaten and hurt by the thug-like FRU(ordered to do so, and without thinking, no doubt by some other bully higher up in the chain of authority)tonight for participating in the candlelight vigil, which being a clearly peaceful and democratic civil rights activity was entirely lawful and within your constitutional rights to undertake.
Such desperate measures on the part of the Home Minister/PDRM indicate that the Rakyat must be scoring points against the Government where it hurts.
So keep fighting with those candles and peaceful, disciplined vigils because you are winning, and more importantly, you are winning in the only right and unstoppable way!
And keep those candles burning brightly like the fearful symmetry of those courageous tigers mentioned in that poem by William Blake.
Let the BN-Government bullies squirm in the spotlight and heat of those candles as the world watches their sickening bad-governance and brutal bullying tactics applied so indiscrimintely and unjustifiably against innocent, peaceful and defenceless citizens and their elected parliamentarians.
"Imagine Power To The People" John Lennon.
Tony, hang in there. I am on of the millions that supported Pakatan Rakyat in the last general election. They can kick and hit, but we will come back again and again. We are together with you on this.
Dear Tony,
I'm so worried about you. Do take care of yourself. We are so proud of what do have done for the country, unlike MCA, Gerakan and MIC. I will continue my job to convince more young voters to vote UMNO/BN out next round. Mark my words!!
polis malaysia are worse than gangster.
Sorry to hear that you were attacked and arrested.
Just dropped by to show support.
I wonder if we could sue the police officer for using excessive force, when there's clearly no need to.
BIGGEST idiots are those who voted for BN. Vote somemore la!
At GEs, just your tick in the right box will do to prevent all these things from happening.
Tony,
My utmost respect for you.
Continue with your fight for injustices.
James Lim.
The warlords are retaliating to show they are still in power altho' RPK was freed.. The country is run by warlords while the police by thugs... They can't catch rats who rob and rape, but will tempt to show their muscle power by intimidating good citizens.. Sorry you got hauled up with the rest, but that's why we need you guys to work harder on the legislative to vote down these idiots. Of course the bigger idiots are those who voted for these warlords! HOpe you record all these evidance of police brutality, we should compile them to bring to UN Human Rights group.
donplayplay
There's always a first time for everything and you are coping well. The idea of the arrest is to sweep in individuals and search for information etc especially on RPK who should now remain scarce.Just don't make it easy for them. They are on the run after RPK's unexpected release (the honorable judge got 'the Obama effect"),hence the desperate measures. In the end it will only backfire on the UMNO botaks and all.
Hang on Tony ,things will get better. No pain No gain. Stay strong and will pray for the safety of you and family.
Tony,
Good to hear that you are ok. This is really uncalled for! What the hell is this? We are still living in a police state?
Anyway....you have earned your "stripes" with last nite's courageous incident!
My stomach churned as I read, with disgust, the police brutality inflicted upon you and your colleagues. Please ensure the bullies are recorded and proper treatment ensue. The Rakyat, your boss, is not taking this maltreatment lightly. We will summon the bullies to explain their actions and adjudicate exacting punishment for all involved especially their superiors. Let this be a strong signal that we do not condone police brutality. Please take care.
Take legal action against the police. They're too much. And if possible sue their masters (UMNO) too. Tell Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who are really bastards.
I'm stil shaking with anger and disbelief that the police can display such blatant thuggery in dealing with folks who pay their salaries!!! And let's not get me started with the double standards in their enforcement against raliies and protests!!
Thank you Tony and everyone else who braved the odds to attend the candle-light vigil last nite.
How much more are we going to allow this to happen!!??
what do you expect from the police force? the rot starts from the head, aint it?
damn good at violence against innocent citizens. but against criminals? no wonder, a police base has to be moved out from a crime infested area for the cops' safety! hey cops, you must thank your master's concern for you all.
Everything happens for a reason.
Maybe this is one of life's experiences to prepare you for greater things...
maybe it will be another catalyst for us who believes in Malaysia
God Bless & Keep you Safe.
If you were my MP I would be extremely Proud that you stood up for my rights to asemble peacefully too!
"power to the people
power to the people!"

dear YB pua
i) if only more malays were there too. now, if you look carefully, that night's event appear to be predominantly chinese&indians. we need more well-meaning malays up in the front line. this is malaysia. and the cops (especially those lower ranked enforcers are malays). this is to let them see for themselves that this is not something non-malays vs malays. it has to be seen to be so. sigh...
ii) i am a coward. YB u have more courage in your little finger than i have in my entire body. i am sorry i dare not to be there. but if you need funds etc... pls post it out and me (and millions like me) will know where we can contribute.
iii) YB, you and those other courgeous people have my highest respect.
iv) again, lastly, if only if you can gather more malays to be in the frontline...
carmanio.
Dear Tony,
The police and their In Security Acts. Isn't it clear that they and the political masters they serve are feeling the insecurity that all bullies feel and show in brutish force. We take pride & comfort in the courage you and the rest of the braves have displayed.
Tony,
Apparently I can't get the first hand news as I am from Sarawak, so remote from Peninsula Malaysia, I am so sorry to read that from Malaysiakini and hope you are fine and keep up your spirit and work better for Malaysia, in CNBC, many people laugh at what had happened in our country.
glad your fine now. maybe you can update with us on what happening in the police station last night
the only violent people i can see are the "police officers", if that's what they call themselves these days.

hi tony pua,
"shaken but not stirred!" would be the best phrase to describe those that were arrested on that fateful night.
-Mohd Khairul Anuar-
when there's demonstration there's bond to be some people getting hurt or handled rough by the police. What do you expect a walk in the park??? Come lah don't just blame the police force and pointing fingers at the authority. So if you're not up to it just leave.
To anonymous @ 11:52PM:
That still doesn't give the "law enforcement" officers any right to manhandle someone who has clearly said he will walk and go into the Black Maria on his own will...
They are no better than the Mat Rempits and gangsters...
The rough treatment is a way to practice the moves they see on wrestling tv and to "lepas geram."
It's also a way to test the assailee -- if you fight back, they'll charge you with resisting arrest. Also you're outnumbered.
Nonetheless, here are effective ways to tresist in such situations, despite the constraints.
