Thank You Malaysians!

Thank you Petaling Jaya, Thank you Malaysians!

The people has spoken overwhelmingly and we at the DAP look forward to serving you with all our hearts.

I've received countless sms's and emails (not to mention tens of Facebook messages) of congratulations, as well as kind words of encouragement. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all friends and supporters for the encouragement! ;-)

I'd also like to apologise if I can't respond to every sms or email as I can tell you that my phone is jamming and hanging and re-booting (it takes forever) so often due to the sheer volume of calls and sms's coming in. There are also literally hundreds of emails I've received! ;-)

Do know that I will be getting on with work even today as we have unexpected won not only a large number of seats, but also the Selangor, Perak and Penang state government. Now I have to think about how we can come up with consistent and constructive policies as the governing party to make these states the most forward looking states in the country. (Assistance from talented Malaysians willing to serve in Government to make a positive change welcome).

Thank you, thank you once again for being part of history in the making! Carpe Diem!

Good luck.

Congratulations, YB Tony Pua! We are so very happy that People Power paid off; we never dreamed that we would see it in our lifetimes!

Yes, the winds of change are blowing, and for the love of the country, we will reclaim Malaysia for all Malaysians! We are looking forward to working together with you to make this a better Malaysia and better PJU for everyone.

A final note: As an act of mercy to your opponent, perhaps you could offer Chew Mei Fun a job as city councillor! >:o) She seems very efficient at checking drains and uncut grass and uncollected rubbish, doesn't she?

Best regards and heartiest congratulations,
Ee Lynn.

Tony,

I attended the ceramahs and there were donation boxes which was well contributed. I am concerned about how the money was spent. Will it be made known to the public how it was spent?

dear YB Tony,

Finally WE successful denied the 2/3 majority of BN in parliament , This is a NEW MALAYSIA now .
In my hometown, NS.WE successful denied the 2/3 majority BN in the seat of states.
Finally we made our dreams came true past 50 years .

hope all DAP leader will continue to keep this victory in future 5 years !!!

Dear Rakyat,

LIM Kit Siang is most pioneer in Parliment, he deserve to get Dato' or Tan Sri base on his contribution to the country.
*All this years(Before these election), he can easily switch to MCA and get $$$ and as Dato. But he still fight for the Justice for rakyat.

Congratulations, YB Tony Pua.

I hope the DAP and every elected YB will Berkhidmat for the Rakyat like you said in your ceramahs that we want a YB in terms of Yang Berkhidmat.

My helping out in getting out the message to support for a change for DAP at PJ Utara has not been in vain.

Further to that, I think the DAP should lead Perak having won the most state seats. We should get a non-Muslim to be a Menteri Besar since the opposition (DAP, PAS & PKR) have been saying it should be equal and fair.

Please keep to all the promises else the people's power will make sure it will only be one term for DAP, PKR & PAS.

Thank you.

Congrats! I'm a first time voter currently studying at a public university far away from PJU but came back all the way to vote for you nonetheless. Hope that you could raise education issues in the parliment!

Would like to see DAP prove itself to be a multiracial/non-racial political party. I've had enough of racism caused by BN in malaysia already.

Congratulations! I am really happy with the victory of DAP in this GE. I look forward to seeing the positive change soon. It's really time for to change all the obsolete policies that marginalize other races. However, I hope that all will take place in a peaceful way. GBU

Boh-liao,

You forget DAP's slogan - Malaysian Malaysia and Malaysian FIRST. People like you makes other races to confirm DAP is a chinese party. DAP can silence BN and other critics. It is an opportunity not to be wasted that DAP welcome Malays. If one is capable and not an extreme, he can be a MB just like PAP are having Malay and Indian Ministers in important portfolios. DAP is a member of the International Socialist like Germany, Denmark. In this way, more Malays will join DAP for its International Socialist Ideologies

Dear Australian Malaysian sceptic,

You must have lost your head or read the blog of the wrong Tony, should be Tony Pua & not Tony Chua.

Dear Malaysian,

Please don't get carried away and expect the Opposition to do wonders. Remember, you are just only your voice for a start, result will take time.

Great job!

DAP, PKR and PAS carry an incredible burden now. All eyes and hopes are on you - the rakyat is praying and hoping for a resounding success in your tenure and a future federal government with this new coalition that can prove itself to be viable and super dynamic, BN is no doubt hoping for a failure.

We have faith in you. Thoughts and prayers are with the new coalition. Be sincere, work hard, never be afraid to admit a mistake, ask for help from the right people - WE THE RAKYAT WILL STAND BY YOU!!

And for once, I am not telling people to migrate to other countries any more.

God bless you all and keep you all on the right path for all Malaysian.

Dear YB Tony Pua,

I think many did not expect nor predict the political tsunami from Penang-Kelantan to continue neighbouring states Kedah-Perak-Selangor. Nor did DAP expect to bag so many seats in Perak-Selangor.

Whatever agreements were made prior to the elections among the BA leaders must be honoured. This is GOODWILL.

It doesn't matter who become MB & so on. Most importantly it carries on the mandate that the BA has set & that the MB is a capable/credible candidate.

The MB must then form a formidable team to focus on the mandates. There will always be another election & then new agreements can be drawn out.

After all, what are the age groups of the DAP leaders who won? The people surely would like to see the voted MPs continue to serve them (so long as they are elected for it). I can say for now (the BA) it's like the first date, so to speak (although it involves 4 parties!!!).

Let the BA work well together as a team to show BN what the BA is made of. BN is already criticising that an entity like BA will not work. PROVE them WRONG! That's what the rakyat has voted for: BN only got 49% votes in the Peninsular. If not because of Johor/Sabah/Sarawak, BN is not relevant! BN strategy has worked so far to keep them going to form the next gov. But, maybe it is also the people in Johor/Sabah/Sarawak are watching what the BA will do in those 5 states won.

The BN has 50 years ahead of the BA...so, there's a lot to catch up. All 5 states under BA must work very hard & cohesively to tell our other bros & sis in all the other states that BA is relevant to be the future of Malaysia! Even if it takes another 50 years!

Congrats once again on your elected appoinment (I wish to avoid the word victory here) & do continue to ROCK PJ!!! MBPJ need a whipping & a good cleaning up.

Dear YB

Sorry to throw you into the gauntlet so early...but hope you don't need too long to "warm-up". As you can see, there's a lot of issues not taken up or lobbied in the past. Some of which just require common sense or initiative & not just wait for someone to come & complain. Being in the UK myself too, we can make comparisons & question ourselves the "what ifs" too so that our PJ-city can be a model city of Malaysia. I haven't seen the following requests being made, so here it is:

There is also a big big problem of insufficient car parks in PJ. Hope your town planning team can come up with something in the near future.

Since we all pay rates, etc to MBPJ, why do we still have to pay for car parking fee of RM 0.60/hr? It will be fair to pay for covered car park. But in the open space, it should be free (or maybe free for limited time to allow others to use). This is the case in suburbs of Melbourne...one of the best town plannings I have experienced.

This will also "free" the work-force just to "saman" cars that do not pay the parking ticket. Do we need such work-force to walk around 8hrs a day to check on errant parking? It would be better to use the police to walk around 8hr/shift to safeguard the people of PJ. Anyway, the "saman" officers could be used for other better things to do, don't you agree?

Dear YB Tony Pua

Reading some of the blogs, DAP must not forget that this election focus by the BA was not race base politics. DAP won in many seats that got the support of the Malay-bros votes as well. That should be remembered well. So, the issue of who (Malay/Chinese/Indian) become MB is no longer an important issue. What is more important & crucial is that the BA continue it's unity & stand to work together in order to make a bigger impact in to the next election. Now it is up to the elected candidates like yourself or freshies impress the people that voted in confidence.

It's a tough job ahead. May God guide you & give you strength the next 4-5 years.

Congrats Tony. I was so happy to see the changes in Malaysia's political scene. For the first time, I feel proud as a Malaysian, as the country marching towards democracy.
I saw this blog article from fat4 this morning who suggested for a shadow ministry/ cabinet. URL: http://fat4.xblogger.net/index.php/2008/03/09/malaysia-election-2008-analysis-results-now-that-barisan-rakyat-has-a-big-say-why-not-a-shadow-ministry/

I've been staying in Australia for the past 3.5 yrs, and witnessed the effectiveness of a shadow cabinet (also in place in UK, Canada, Nz etc.)
I'm sure you would be able to appreciate such a system, esp. since for the first time the opposition is nearly equal to BN. I wish you could help to bring this suggestion of a "coalition shadow ministry" to the attention of Barisan Rakyat.
I have high expectation for you and other that represent the younger generation in DAP and BR in general. Go democracy, go Malaysia!
Cheers!

Hi Tony,

Since the Opposition have captured the Selangor state government, I would like to proposed to the new state government to consider to nominate Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fen as the head of Selayang Municipal Council.

It have been for years that the residents living in Selayang suffer poor administration due to incompetent people being nominated as head of Selayang Municipal Council.

Tony and the PJU team,
I think the real test has just begun... I was a polling and counting agent this round although not a DAP party member. I wld imagine that there is more work to do, not just a need for people who want a position in government. I suggest you tap into the pool of the 400 or so people who volunteered to serve as your polling and counting agents. Many of them are professionals and hold senior positions in corporates or are retirees who were senior executives. These people offered their time when DAP was still a non entity so to speak. I guess it is safe to say that their motives are sincere. When we fill up the SPR forms there were no data gathered as to their background, etc. This pool of people will be a great resource for you in the months to come. A meeting with them wld be a good start, when u get round to it.

Dear YB TP

For some reason YB LKS blogsite is down. Would like to congratulate YB LKS & YB Karpal Singh sacrifice not for DAP, but for all Malaysians.

The committment & preserverence of both leaders whom have waited for this day certainly deserves to be recognised as true Malaysian heroes. Even the title TUN is not enough to emulate what they have done for country & citizen. For simply upholding truth, justice & democracy. I say this coz I believe this would be their last elections & will surely miss these 2 fighters of true democracy in the next GE. But new fighters will emerge.

I think everyone is hoping the next 13th GE to be next week !!! or maybe in 13days time....

Dear Tony,
I have watched your campaign in admiration. I waited with bated breath to see you come out victorious. Your campaign and your victory gave the people renewed hope. Do not forget the people who put their faith and trust in you and your team.

To quote Yeo Yang Poh, the former Bar Council president, who wrote: “They must never forget, not even in their sleep, that their much-improved victory is not their victory, but the victory of the people. Thus they must serve the people with humility and dedication. They should be proud, not of their success, but of the people who have enabled them to succeed.”

Dear YB

We should emulate what YB LGE (Penang CM) is doing in Penang...declare assets, waive samans! (reset would be a good word)...would also like to suggest to convince all tolls in Selangor (non out of state bound) e.g. LDP, etc to experiment NO-TOLL day. Surely, the traffic congestion will ease-off since millions of cars do not need to stop & pay. There will also be less pollution (car stopping & accelerating at toll booths) & one-way the toll concession holders (who rake in millions by the day) to give something back. Well, you are an economics guru...will leave the rest to you if this is feasible & sokong by the rest of MPs.

Dear YB & all Selangorians

I read with amusement today that ex-CM Khir Toyo said he will be watchdog...was there a watchdog during his tenure??? Do not go on witchhunt but go for headhunt, it's the head that poisons the rest of the body.

One of the things the new state ministers should do is make sure all MPs (incl the state exco themselves) pass a health-check or do the necessary to improve their health. We wouldn't want any of them to suddenly die of heart-attack!

If the MPs & Exco's are not fit & healthy, how to serve the Rakyat? Otherwise, sleeping all the time.

Dear Fellow Malaysians who voted for the Oppositions,

Don't get carried away and expect instant results. Be realistic!! Changes take time, expect less and hope for more.

Dear Tony,
This is directed to your BA state team.
In my church, we pay tithes and annually, members are presented a set of accounts on the income and expenditure of the church. This is good governance. In the Selangor state, there are many districts, and presumably the state govt cld present in addition, segmental information that is accessible by the public.
We the rate payers want accountability, transparency and good governance.

Dear YB Tony,
Congratulations ! Hope that you will promote ICT and change the old-men thinking in parliament especially let some Minister know cannot suka-suka said want to sue or ban Youtube. This will let other people around the world laugh only.

my comments are my own but i would strongly urge you to read and digest. It is best for the rakyat although the fight is on from supremo Lim of DAP against all inequality.

just face the fact, you cant change the country in one night and make everyone colour blind. Xenophobic still exist within every race. We are afterall humans, not machine.

THERE ARE MANY REASONS CONTRIBUTED TO THESE SORT OF CONFUSION AND MISALIGNMENT FROM DAP, PKR AND PAS IN PERAK STATE. HERE ARE MY STRONG COMMENTS TO YOU ALL:
1ST, THE BA OPPOSITION HAS NEVER THOUGHT OF WINNING THE PERAK STATE, YOU HAVE THOUGHT THAT YOU MAY WIN MORE SEATS BUT NOT ENOUGH TO OVERTHROW THE PRESENT BN GOVERNMENT IN PERAK, BUT TO YOUR OWN SURPRISE, BA WON. THEREFORE THERE ISNT PROPERLY THOUGHT OVER STRATEGY AND PLAN TO CONSIDER WHAT IF BA WON IN PERAK STATE.
PERAK IS A STATE WITH MIXED POPULATION OF MALAY, CHINESE AND INDIANS. TO CHOOSE MB FOR PERAK, IT HAS TO BE A GOOD BALANCING ACT. DEFINITELY THE BEST CHOICE IS STILL A PKR MALAY CANDIDATE DUE TO THE FACT THAT PKR COMPOSED OF 3 RACES AND ALL MALAYSIAN AGENDA. PAS IS TOO ISLAMIC, DAP IS TOO NON-MALAY. IF BA HAD EVER THOUGHT OF APPOINTING PKR LEADER TO BE PERAK MB, THEN IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE IDENTIFIED THE RIGHT ACADEMICALLY QUALIFIED PKR CANDIDATE TO FIELD IN THE BATTLE POSTS IN MUTUALLY ACCEPTED PLACES IN PERAK TO WIN.
2ND, DONT BE BECAUSE OF DAP LEADERS IN PERAK HAD ACCEPTED THE DECISION, YOU LIM KIT SIANG FELT THEY HAVE GIVEN IN TO SELL DAP SHORT, YOU HAVE GIVEN PERAK DAP THE POWER TO DECIDE. THEY EXERCISED IT, ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES. DONT BLAME OTHERS, YOU SHOULD BLAME YOURSELF TOO IF YOU THINK IT IS NOT RIGHT. DECISION HAD TO BE MADE MUCH MORE EARLY THAN NOW, YOU SHOULD HAVE CONSTANTLY CONSULT THE 2 COALITION PARTIES AND PERAK SULTAN YOURSELF OF YOUR BELIEF AND STANCE FOR THE GOOD OF PERAK STATE, INSTEAD OF YOU SPENT MOST OF YOUR TIME IN PENANG TO OBSERVE YOUR SON TO SWEAR IN TO BE CM. YOU HAVE SHOWN TO THE RAKYAT THAT YOU ARE STILL THE EMPEROR IN DAP, YOU WANT WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT INSTEAD OF COLLECTIVE DECISION AND ACTION BY DAP MEMBERS. THIS IS NO DIFFERENCE THAN OTHER AUTOCRATIC LEADERS LIKE SAMY, KUAN YEW AND EVEN MAHATHIR.
3RD, ACCEPT THE FACT THAT EVERY ONE OF THE BA PARTIES ARE POWER HUNGRY TOO, EACH AND EVERYONE SOUNDED LIKE THEY ARE SO GREAT IN GIVING BUT INSTEAD THEY ARE SO GOOD IN FIGHTING EACH FOR POSITIONS IN THE PARTY, PARLIAMENT SEATS AND POSITION IN STATE GOVERNMENT. ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU ALL WANT MORE POWER AND YOU HAVE ALL FOUGHT TILL THE END B4 FINAL DECISION IS MADE BY THE SOVEREIGN. AND THERE IS SIMPLY NO TRUST AMONG THE 3 PARTIES.
4TH, IT MAY SOUND TO YOU THAT PAS IS THE BIGGEST WINNER IN THIS ELECTION AND COALITION, I.E. 3 STATES FOR PAS, 1 STATE FOR PKR AND 1 STATE FOR DAP. SOUR GRAPE FEELING ISNT IT? OTHERS DID THE HARD WORK, AND SOMEONE RIDE ALONG EASILY TO TAKE IT. BUT THE FACT IS YOU ALL FORMED UP AN ALLIANCE TOGETHER THIS TIME TO BREAK BN 2/3 SEATS. AND THAT YOU ALL SHOULD HAVE CLEAR OUT THE DIFFERENCES INSTEAD YOU ALL ARE SEEMINGLY LOOKED LIKE HASTILY INVOLVED IN THIS COALITION WITHOUT MUTUALLY AND PROPERLY PLANNED OUT, THOUGHT OVER, DISCUSSED, NEGOTIATED, CONFIRMED AND ACCEPTED AMONGST ALL.
5TH, DATO SERI ANWAR WILL NOT COME OUT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BETWEEN PAS AND DAP. OR HE WILL SUBJECT HIMSELF IN A HOT DEBATE AND HOT SOUP. WHY? IF HE SUPPORTS DAP, HE WILL BE TAKEN AS PRO-NON BUMI, IF HE SUPPORTS PAS, HE WILL BE TAKEN AS PRO-ISLAMIC AND PRO-MALAY. REMAIN HIMSELF TO BE SILENT IN THIS ISSUE CAN MAKE HIM BE A BETTER OPPORTUNIST, HE WILL SWING HIS SUPPORT TO THE SIDE WHICH COMMAND STRONGER VOICE AND STRONGER POWER END OF DAY. HE WILL LET BOTH PARTIES (DAP AND PAS) FIGHT SO THAT THERE WILL BE MORE OPPORTUNITY FOR PKR TO INVOLVE IN BETTER POSITION IN THE AFTERMATH. SO PKR WILL REMAIN NEUTRAL ON THEIR VIEW.
6TH, PAS CANDIDATE IS NOT GENTLEMAN ENOUGH TO HONOUR THE PARTIES WHICH WON THE MAJORITY SEATS TO PROPOSE THEIR CANDIDATE TO BE MB, INSTEAD THEY PORTRAY THEMSELVES TO BE POWER HUNGRY TOO MAKING THE RAKYAT SUSPECT THEIR MOTIFS AND AGENDA BEHIND. IF PAS EVER PROPOSE PKR CANDIDATE OR SEEMINGLY PROPOSE DAP REP TO BE THE FIRST CHOICE BUT ULTIMATELY WITH NO BETTER RESOLUTION AND THEN FINALLY ACCEPT THE APPOINTMENT BY THE SOVEREIGN, THEN THEY ARE CONSIDERED A GOOD TEAM PLAYER, VERY GIVING, CARING, SENSITIVE AND RECEPTIVE TOWARDS WHAT MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WANTED TO SEE. IT WILL WIN THEM BETTER SUPPORT FROM RAKYAT TO EVEN CHANGE VIEW TOWARDS PAS.
7TH, THE ROYAL OF PERAK IS WISE TO CONSIDER ALL FACTORS BEFORE ULTIMATELY DECIDE ON THE PAS CANDIDATE. DONT FORGET HE WAS TRAINED IN LAW. HE WILL AND COULD NOT CHANGE THE CONSTITUENCY WHICH WAS SET BY PREVIOUS SOVEREIGNTY, THE RISK IS SIMPLY TOO HUGE FOR HIM TO TAKE ON. TO AMEND IT MAY CAUSE POSSIBLE COMMOTION AMONG THE RAKYAT AND ALSO POSSIBLE ATTEMPT TO INFLICK RACIAL HATRED BY SOME INTENDED PARTIES AND MAY BE STRONG OPPOSITION BY UMNO. HIS INTENTION IS TO UPHOLD PEACE AND HARMONY WITHIN THE STATE, THAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SULTAN.
8TH, VOICE THEIR DISSATISFACTION BY NOT ATTENDING THE SWORN IN CEREMONY OF PAS CANDIDATE OFFICIATED BY THE ROYAL SULTAN OF PERAK ONLY MADE DAP LOOK MORE NAIVE, INCONSIDERATE, IMMATURE AND NON-GENTLEMEN ATTITUDE.
YOU MAY STATE THAT BN MEMBER DO NOT ATTEND YOUR SON'S CM APPOINTMENT CEREMONY IN PENANG BUT THEN YOU DID THE SAME TO YOUR OWN COALITION PARTY MEMBER. WHAT MAKES YOU? IT ONLY MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A NARROW MINDED, STUBBORN EMPEROR. NOT WISE.
FACE THE TRUTH, EVEN WITH YOUR ABSENCE IN THE SWORN IN CEREMONY WILL NOT CHANGE THE DECISION AND POSITION FOR YOUR COALITION. SO TAKE THE GUT, BITE THE BULLET AND BE A BIG MAN.
9TH, LIM KIT SIANG, YOU WORRIED THAT YOUR VOTERS WILL NOT SUPPORT DAP BECAUSE OF THIS SWIFT OF TOP POSITION TO PAS. YOU SHOULDNT NOW, WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS TO PUT OFF THE POSSIBLE FIRE CAUSED BY YOUR OPPONENTS, PACIFIED THE VOTERS AND SUPPORTERS, PROMISED THEM TO DO YOUR UTMOST BEST TO ENSURE PERAK STATE IS A "STATE FOR ALL MALAYSIAN". PROVE IT WRONG TO THE OPPONENTS AND SET A NEW EXAMPLE OF A COALITION BA WITH "DEMOCRATIC" AND COLLECTIVE ADMINISTRATION.
10TH, IF BARISAN ALTERNATIF STILL CANNOT RESOLVE OWN ISSUES WITHIN PARTY AND AMONGST PARTIES SOONEST, YOU CANT CLAIM TO BE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT. HOW WOULD THE RAKYAT HAVE TRUST IN YOU TO RUN AN EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT STATE GOVERNMENT AND EVEN POTENTIAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN FUTURE?
I DO WANT YOU OR YOUR SECRETARY TO READ MY STRONG COMMENTS. AND PLEASE PASS IT TO SUPREMO LIM AND GUAN ENG. AND ALSO TO PKR, PAS AND PERHAPS THE ROYAL SULTAN OF PERAK HIMSELF TOO.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

So it is time for BA to start working hard, they have to perform better & not become like BN later.
Once they fail to perform, don't dream of forming the Federal Government by 13GE, they may give back Penang, Selangor, Perak, Kedah & Kelantan to BN then. Rakyat are waiting to see, judge & act in due course!
