Tony,

Please read this comment to the end as I have a message to convey.

Thanks for posting this announcement. I will be there, dressed in black. However, I am a bit unhappy. How come you never posted of that event in KLSCAH where you lit a candle in support of Wong Chin Huat and 1BlackMalaysia. I only learned of that event from Nat's blog at 8.30pm and that was too late. How come DAP never take any pain to keep its members and supporters informed of events. DAP have the email addresses of its members and it would be a simple thing for them to send out an email message announcing the event (including this one organized by Lau Weng San).

This is not the first time and this happened. Same thing with that meeting (where Tunku Aziz and LKS gave speeches) to protest the dilutation and substitution of the IPCMC with (the special complaints commission or something). I brought up the matter with Lim Kit Siang. But till today, nothing changed. DAP members have to learn about events often from non-DAP sources like blogs. Why can't DAP be organized like the much better disiplined PAD.

You are now in charged of Information I believe. I think you need to buck up to keep Malaysians and especially DAP members informed. This announcement is an improvement.

One more thing. Please organize for the sale of black T-shirts preferably with the message "1BlackMalaysia, democracy first, election now". I have only the "No to ISA" T-shirt and now wants to wear black if possible everyday.

The road to a true 1Malaysia, at least the one we imagined, lies in the destruction of the one who came up with it. It was a lie we can turn to a truth.

Najib's idea of 1Malaysia - mutual repect - its just a loose version of what he is thinking - sameness. You have to respect me the same and equal amount that I respect you. Hogwash. Its communist. Its a crappy concept and do not fit what is needed.

The imagined 1Malaysia most Malaysian hold dear is one of diversity where communities are not equal but not disrespected. That is fair, to each their rights but no one is owed more than necessary...

That is why Najib must be rid off and BN removed from power i.e., the lie cleansed before we can move forward to truly 1Malaysia

Is there any plainclothe police there or government spy ? Scared, we might be hauled up for asking sensitive questions (questions that incite hatred towards the government!!!) under the Sedition Act, 1948. Or we might be the target of future police arrest !! Better to be safe rather than sorry !!!

YB Tony, how about the politicians, community leaders and opinion shapers like yourself propose that May 13 becomes a public holiday in Malaysia, called Unity Day, a special day that celebrates all things Malaysian. A day of celebration of Malaysian culture, art, innovations, talks by Malaysian experts, concerts, movies, exhibitions, food fairs, etc. A day for Malaysians to reaffirm its commitment to 1Malaysia. A day for reflection on the lessons of history so that we can move forward together as one. A day for all Malaysians to mingle, interact and celebrate our unique cultural diversity. It could even become a tourist attraction like Oktoberfest in Germany! I hope that I will live long enough to see Unity Day take place in Malaysia.

Happy May 13!

P.S. Studies show that racial discrimination is largely caused by lack of education and lack of interaction between people of different racial and cultural backgrounds. Studies show that people with neighbours of a different race and culture are much less likely to be racists.
